Nassal partnered with Gyroscope and Kidspace Children’s Museum to create two hands-on educational exhibits designed to encourage exploration, discovery and active learning. The Hawk’s Nest and Flood and Erosion Plain exhibits provide children with opportunities to engage directly with concepts related to nature, movement and environmental science through immersive play experiences.

The Hawk’s Nest exhibit challenged Nassal to create a multi-level climbing environment where children can ascend above the surrounding landscape and experience the perspective of a bird’s nest high in the trees. The project included fabrication of custom stairs, ramps, a rope bridge and a circular climbing structure, all designed to promote physical activity while supporting safe and engaging play. Working closely with the design team, Nassal helped transform the concept into a durable attraction that encourages creativity, confidence and exploration.

For the Flood and Erosion Plain exhibit, Nassal helped create an interactive environment where children can observe the effects of water movement and erosion firsthand. Guests are encouraged to shape channels in the sand, build dams and redirect flowing water, allowing them to experiment with natural processes in a hands-on setting. The exhibit was carefully developed to withstand constant guest interaction while maintaining the authentic educational experience envisioned by the museum.

Developed over an 18-month design-build process, the project required close collaboration between Nassal, Gyroscope and Kidspace to balance educational goals, budget requirements and long-term operational needs. The completed exhibits transform scientific concepts into memorable experiences, giving children opportunities to learn through play while fostering curiosity about the natural world.
