Nassal provided engineering, fabrication and installation services for the Grand Park Climber, a custom outdoor play structure designed by Rios Clementi Hale Studios to encourage movement, exploration and imaginative play. The project combines architectural design with interactive recreation, giving children an elevated environment where they can climb, explore and experience new perspectives of the surrounding landscape.

The centerpiece is a 20-foot-tall structure fabricated from durable Brazilian Ipe hardwood and accented with vibrant lime-green details. Three levels of interior platforms create multiple pathways through the climber, while a four-foot roller slide and dramatic 12-foot tube slide add variety to the experience. Nassal’s scope also included specialty fencing, integrated seating areas and safety gates that complement the design while supporting the functional demands of an active public play environment.

Bringing the Grand Park Climber together required close coordination with civil engineers, landscape architects and the general contractor. Nassal worked across disciplines to integrate the custom structure and surrounding site elements with the landscape, balancing design intent, constructability and long-term performance.

The completed Grand Park Climber turns a traditional playground experience into an architectural adventure. Its combination of custom fabrication, durable materials and creative play features gives children a distinctive place to challenge themselves, engage their imaginations and discover the environment from a new point of view.
