Nassal completed approximately 3,000 square feet of intricate scenic rockwork for the Puffin Exhibit at Georgia Aquarium, creating a highly detailed habitat within the Cold Water Quest gallery. Located across from the Southern sea otters, the new exhibit immerses guests in an environment inspired by the rugged cliff‑side dwellings found in the puffins’ natural habitat.

The exhibit features more than 11,000 gallons of water and custom rock formations designed to replicate the texture, scale and complexity of coastal cliffs. Nassal’s rockwork was carefully sculpted and finished to support animal welfare while enhancing the realism and storytelling of the space.

Rockwork elements extend beyond the primary habitat and spill to the exterior of the exhibit, framing tall acrylic viewing windows that offer guests both above‑water and underwater perspectives. This layered approach creates dynamic sightlines and strengthens the sense of immersion, allowing visitors to observe puffins swimming, diving and interacting within their environment.

Through detailed craftsmanship and thoughtful integration within an active aquarium setting, Nassal delivered a naturalistic and engaging puffin habitat that enhances guest experience while supporting long‑term performance and animal care at Georgia Aquarium.
