Created as a real-world learning environment for emerging filmmakers, designers and content creators, the Full Sail University Backlot gives students access to production-ready environments that mirror the settings found throughout the entertainment industry. Rather than learning exclusively in classrooms, students can step directly into realistic locations designed to support film, television, commercial and digital media projects.

Nassal contributed to the development of the 175,000-square-foot facility through themed construction, scenic fabrication and architectural facades that establish the backlot's diverse collection of environments. The centerpiece of the campus is a 1,000-foot-long streetscape featuring a variety of distinct settings, including a Seattle-style farmers market, New Orleans-inspired streets, cafés, storefronts, residential buildings, a gas station and other production-ready locations. Each façade was designed to provide visual authenticity while offering the flexibility needed to support a wide range of creative projects.

What makes the Full Sail University Backlot unique is its ability to transform education into practical experience. Students can move from one environment to the next without leaving campus, gaining hands-on production experience in settings that replicate professional filming locations. The result is a dynamic creative workspace where learning happens through experimentation, collaboration and storytelling, helping prepare students for careers across the film, television and entertainment industries.
